Other than organising
the Irish Game Fair - what makes BASC in Northern Ireland unique?
BASC is unique amongst shooting organisations in Northern Ireland.
We offer an unrivalled insurance package, professional advice from
full time expert staff and have a political lobbying machine that
is providing real protection for shooting in the Northern Ireland
Assembly. Put simply BASC in Northern Ireland provide a comprehensive
and personalised service to members and member clubs that smaller
shooting organisations cannot match.
BASC offer the only tried and tested insurance policy for shooting
that covers literally aspect of shooting sports. Full time expert
staff, based in our full time offices in Northern Ireland provides
outstanding local service and advice often on issues peculiar to Northern
Ireland. We have also developed a substantial political profile which
is delivering real concessions for shooting sports in Northern Ireland,
some of our recent achievements are listed below;
- BASC Northern Ireland has successfully lobbied to have the
ban on game shooting lifted, which was introduced in April this
year following the first confirmed outbreak of the Foot and Mouth
Disease.
You would not be
shooting this season in Northern Ireland if it wasn't for BASC.
- Removal of the Game Bird Preservation Order. (making it no
longer necessary to apply for a special exemption licence to shoot
hen pheasants and partridges)
You don't have to
apply for a meaningless licence thanks to BASC.
- Our aggressive campaign of opposition led The Northern Ireland
Office to scrap its proposals for a compulsory firearms safety
test.
You would have had
to pass a compulsory test to possess a firearm in Northern Ireland
if it were not for BASC.
- Relaxation of the firearms licensing laws, especially significant
changes to policy for issuing .22 rifles for pest control.
Many of Northern
Ireland's shooters now possess a .22 rifle thanks solely to BASC.
- BASC Northern Ireland successfully defeated proposals to reduce
the shooting season for partridge, snipe and hare, which were
recently debated by the Northern Ireland Assembly.
You would have had
a reduced shooting season for partridge, snipe and hare if it
weren't for BASC.
- BASC Northern Ireland has also succeeded in having the relevant
legislation amended to permit all authorised persons to shoot
rabbits at night and on Sunday.
Want to shoot rabbits
at night and on Sunday - you can due to professional lobbying
from BASC Northern Ireland.
- BASC is the only shooting organisation to offer personal accident
cover as part of its standard membership insurance package.
If you injure yourself
whilst shooting BASC are the only organisation that will cover
it.
- BASC is the only organisation that has a proven track record
of satisfactorily handling claims
If you have an accident
you know we can cover it.
- BASC is the only organisation whose cover extends to all shooting
and conservation related activities
Most other organisations
cover some aspects of the sport but not others.
For affiliated clubs:
1) We are the only organisation to provide employers liability insurance
If one of your beaters have an accident
we are the only organisation that will cover it.
2) Provide an unsurpassed level of cover for guests
Most others do not.
3) Provide insurance cover for club fundraising activities
We are not aware of any other shooting organisation
that provides such cover.
Smaller organisations come and go but it is widely recognised that
we at BASC organise the best Fair by far in Ireland, have the best
insurance, and give members the best back up and service from the
most professional full time staff (both here and at HQ). We give you
our personal assurance that we will represent your interests in way
that simply cannot be equalled by part-time staff or organisations
with a base outside of Northern Ireland.
BASC is Northern Ireland's representative body for sporting shooting
and we offer a full time service to our members that is second to
none. This has been recognised by the fact that BASC were voted organisation
to do most for shooting sports in 2001 by the readers of Shooting
Times and Sporting Gun magazines.
